The motto of New Hampshire is "Live Free or Die". This is the feeling you get as you ascend Mt. Washington on this rickety cog steam railroad held up by old ties and the like. This is a adventursome ride for anyone. The trains meets two other opposite direction trains as the upbound trains yields to the descending train. Jacobs Ladder is famous for its steepness. This trip is a must for any railfan coming to New England.
