JESUS died for YOU – PRECISELY on April 3, 33 A.D.!
For 2,000 years, the exact date of His Crucifixion and Death has been a great mystery. But now, finally, the True Date of His Crucifixion has been discovered!
A newly self-published, illustrated, footnoted, 19,500-word booklet, entitled "A Scientific Determination of the Exact Time & Date of the Crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth,", by James A. Nollet, makes the certain, definite, case that Jesus Christ was certainly crucified on April 3, 33 A.D., and on no other date.
The booklet does not at all employ astrology, New Age mysticism, or any other kind of humbug to arrive at its conclusion. Rather, it combines certain information found in the Old Testament, the Gospels, and general ancient history, with the power of a modern astronomy computer program, to establish its logical, reasonable, and scientific proof that the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ could only have occurred on April 3, 33 A.D.
The astronomy computer program arrived at its conclusion with two steps. 1) The range of the possible years of the Crucifixion (28 - 36 A.D.) were defined. Then the following was stipulated:
- a) Jesus was crucified on a Friday.
- b) This Friday either fell on Passover (according to the first three Gospels) or on the day before Passover (according to the Gospel of St. John).
- c) Passover always falls on the 15th day of the month of Nissan (the name of the first Jewish lunar month of spring).
- d) The 15th day of any month falls on the same day of the week as the first day of that month.
- In Jesus' time, months commenced, not in a pre-determined way, but on the first evening when the New Moon was, or should have been, observed in the Western sky after sunset.
Given all the above, it was then possible to use the computer program to find out when New Moon fell during any of the given months inside the range of the possible years of Jesus' Crucifixion, to prove whether or not He could have been crucified in any of these years. For example: In the year 32 A.D., the New Moon was proclaimed to have fallen on Monday, April 1. Therefore, in 32 A.D., Passover also fell on a Monday. And therefore, Jesus could not have been crucified in 32 A.D. because in the year of His Crucifixion, Passover fell on a Friday or a Saturday.
After examining all the years within the range in this fashion, it was proven that Jesus could have been crucified either on April 7, 30 A.D. or on April 3, 33 A.D. – and on NO other possible days.
2) Then the computer was consulted again, and this time discovered that around 2 p.m. on April 3, 33 A.D., precisely at the moment that Jesus would have expired, a substantial eclipse of the moon commenced, which was still visible in Jerusalem after sundown!
The eclipse proves that Jesus was certainly crucified on April 3, 33 A.D., for the following reasons:
a) The odds of this happening by coincidence are astronomically remote & improbable.
b) The fact that "the moon was darkened" is a fulfillment of the Messianic prophecy of Joel 2: 1 - 2, 10 - 11, in which it is predicted that on the "Day of the Lord," when the Messiah comes, "THE SUN AND MOON ARE DARKENED"!!! The Gospels already record that the sun was darkened when Jesus expired; now I and my booklet have delivered the moon!
c) In any event, St. Peter himself has given us evidence that he himself regarded the Crucifixion of Jesus and the occurrence of the eclipse to be fulfillments of the Prophecy of Joel. For more information on this point, the reader is directed either to the booklet itself, or to Acts of the Apostles 2.
I and my booklet have thereby proven a new way in which Jesus fulfilled scriptural prophecy, a way that was never hitherto known! Furthermore, this would have been apparent to his own disciples, who would have been on their way home after Jesus was buried, and must henceforth be regarded as a factor in the Rise of Christianity.
This is exciting news for the Christian world! It is a great story for Easter, and a great turn-of-the-millenium story! The Christian world will be awe-struck and inspired to learn some new facts about the Holy Savior, particularly when the facts are precisely that – FACTS – which cannot be disputed!
